  343. other viruses, the macro virus remover will not work.
  344. If you encounter this, remove the other virus first or
  345. work in a separate area.

  352. To install, create a directory and copy the DAT file
  353. to the directory.

  356. * TESTING YOUR INSTALLATION *

  358. The Eicar Standard AntiVirus Test File is a combined
  359. effort by anti-virus vendors throughout the world to
  360. come up with one standard by which customers can
  361. verify their anti-virus installations. To test your
  362. installation, copy the following line into its own file
  363. and name it EICAR.COM.
  364.

  367. When done, you will have a 69 or 70 byte file.

  369. When VirusScan is applied to this file, Scan will report
  370. finding the EICAR-STANDARD-AV-TEST-FILE virus.

  372. It is important to know that THIS IS NOT A VIRUS.
  373. However, users often have the need to test that their
  374. installations function correctly. The anti-virus
  375. industry, through the European Institute for Computer
  376. Antivirus Research, has adopted this standard to
